Children Day Care

In cooperation with the AStA, the audit familiengerechte hochschule has launched the online babysitting exchange, which brings parents (students and staff of the UdS) together with those students who enjoy working with children and are good with them. This service is free of charge and exclusively for students and employees of the UdS.

The student babysitters have an additional source of secondary income thanks to the online babysitting exchange. However, the following prerequisites are obligatory: The interested parties must have experience in dealing with children or have completed the course “Fit for Babysitting”. Letters of recommendation or similar can be submitted as proof. In addition, the respective student must have a valid liability insurance.

After a personal contact meeting with the audit team of the family-friendly university, the student’s special knowledge as well as the age, location and times of childcare are entered on a personal online business card. Students and employees of the UdS with a child can then contact the UdS via a form or via babysitter@asta.uni-saarland.de. Parents and carers will then negotiate further conditions with each other.

Short-term care is another service offered by the audit familiengerechte hochschule for students and employees of the UdS. If a child carer is absent or a university event takes place outside of the daycare hours, a babysitter can fill in from the online babysitting exchange. The costs will be covered upon request in the amount of 2 h/week. The use of the short-term care must be justified by the study or work. It should be noted that for organisational reasons a minimum of 1-2 days notice is necessary.

The Kita of the Studentenwerk is located in the refectory and accommodates 63 children aged 8 weeks to school entry. Primarily the children of the students are admitted to the Kita, but if there is enough space, all other children are also welcome.

The premises of the day care centre were only renovated in 2013. The Kita has a new, modern playground in the forest and a newly designed outdoor area for the crèche children. The educational offers of the day care centre range from music education and movement education to the playful learning of foreign languages. Basically, the educational concept of the day care centre of the Studentenwerk is based on the educational programme of the Saarland day care facilities.
It should also be mentioned that the day care centre of the Studentenwerk offers full-day as well as extended half-day care until 2 pm.

If you are interested in a place in the day care center of the Studentenwerk, you would have to register with Mr. Michely in room 007, Mensa Geb. D4.1. For this you need a form which you can download from the Studentenwerk’s website.
