For your information: Due to the reduced semester ticket fee in WS 2022/23, the refund contributions were adjusted accordingly.
Under certain conditions, you can have the semester ticket fee refunded in full or in part according to § 4 of the contribution regulations:
Reasons for application:
- Severe disability
- Leave of absence
- Study-related stay outside the Saarland (without leave of absence)
- Postgraduate studies
Application deadline: 15.05. (summer semester) and 15.11. (winter semester)
The fee is refunded on a pro-rata basis if you matriculate/re-register more than two months after the start of the semester or exmatriculate more than two months before the end of the semester.
The application deadline for early exmatriculation and late enrollment is 14 days after the date of exmatriculation or enrollment.
The form for the refund can be download and is also available on the website and in the AStA office (in Saarbrücken: AStA-Gebäude A 5.2; in Homburg: AStA-Außenstelle Gebäude 74). The forms are both for demand and confirmation. In “notice about the refund” (“Bescheid”) you must indicate your address.

All documents, the student card too, must be submitted to us before the deadline of demand, otherwise the demand is considered as unjustified !
You can hand in the applications during the opening hours of the AStA office or send them by mail, the postal address is already on the form. In Homburg you can hand in the applications at the AStA office. The forms can also be submitted by e-mail (to erstattung@asta.uni-saarland.de ). The ID card must still be submitted by mail or in person.
All applications and requests by mail will be processed as quickly as possible, but delays may still occur due to high demand. Delays can also sometimes occur due to the fact that consultation with university institutions may be necessary.
Transfers are made to the account specified by the applicant after May 15 for the summer semesters and after November 15 for the winter semesters. Exceptions exist in the case of early exmatriculation and late enrollment.
Please make sure to enter a valid IBAN. The length of the IBAN provided must match the length specified for the country. It is also necessary that the country participates in the SEPA Direct Debit Scheme.
IMPORTANT :
The AStA takes no responsability for lost student cards. Even if we take care of your student card and inform you when we send it back to you, unfortunately it can happen that a student card (posted) gets lost. In order to avoid this situation, we advice you to take back your student card directly by us during our office hours.
Since Wintersemester 2015/16 it is not possible to apply for a refund because of “Wohnort Homburg” ! All possible refund reasons are indicated in the following table and also in the application form.
